Chronic Mental Illness, Depression, and Trauma
Cherise is a self-described Social Worker’s Social Worker. As a clinical therapist, Cherise likes to have a safe and inviting atmosphere for clients and fellow professionals alike, where they can be their most genuine and comfortable selves. Cherise seeks to utilize person-centered, CBT, and DBT modalities as they fit the person’s needs and desires. Her primary goal and professional responsibility are to ensure therapy is individualized and personalized to the person.
Cherise is a proud, double HBCU alumna, earning a Bachelor’s of Social Work degree from Morgan State University and a Master’s of Social Work degree from Howard University. Cherise has been a licensed Social Worker in Maryland since 1997 on each level from the Bachelor licensure level to the Masters licensure level to the current Certified-Clinical level. Cherise believes that as a therapist continues to develop and evolve, so does the process of therapy. There is no “hurry up and pass a board exam” as there is no “hurry up and heal or figure it out”. Therapy, like a career, requires commitment, patience, and susceptibility as well as accountability. In addition to several specialties, Cherise has been trained in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (and associated trauma disorders), as well as Crisis Intervention.
Cherise is a specialized baker and enjoys encouraging others through personal experiences. In her personal time, Cherise enjoys quiet reflective moments to recharge, dining out, and spending quality time with her village and very select groups of friends.
